Doesn’t that sound so corporate? Putting an emphasis on team building?
Well, as corporate as that sounds, the fact of the matter is that without a strong team, companies do not succeed – no matter the size.
And really, get over the “it’s too corporate” mindset when it comes to building your team!
Teams are not corporate – they’re a part of our DNA.
Without a team, Noah wouldn’t have built the ark. Tom Brady wouldn’t win…a lot of Super Bowls. Tyrannical leaders would not have been shut down (I mean, in WW2 it was the Allies that overthrew Hitler).
Ok, no more dramatics…I think you get the point!
On a personal note, one reason I love USImprints is because of its emphasis on leadership building a team building. Here are a few reasons why we do that.
Why Team Building?
In order to work like a well oiled machine, before a team can act as one, they must trust each other.
Team building exercises are a great way to nourish and build a strong team.
Without a strong foundation of trust, your team will question each other in moments when trust is most needed – causing your well oiled machine to break down.
We Cannot Go It Alone
Another reason we believe in team building is because we know that we cannot go it alone.
By that, I mean we need the support.
A team that is in the trenches with you on the tough days will be able to pick you back up.
They’ll also be there to ride your accomplishments with you, and if the team is built, will encourage you to ride the momentum and keep winning.
With each other, we can do so much more that what we are able to do ourselves.
We Focus On Our Strengths
One of the reasons we’re able to do so much more is because we are able to focus on our strengths.
Which would be more effective – having a brick layer take the time to figure out how many bricks he needs to ordered for his next house, or letting the project manager handle the logistics while the brick layer laid bricks?
By using team building exercises, we can combine the need for trust and knowledge that we cannot go it alone to allow us to build a machine focused on building on our strengths, rather than our weaknesses.
How is Your Team?
Although it may not seem like it from the surface, your team culture is a HUGE part of your brand and marketing.
If your culture is toxic and no one trusts each other in your office environment, how do you think your customers will be treated?
Chances are, not as well as you’d hope.
And if your customer service level is not up to par, it is guaranteed that word will eventually get out about your company not providing aaa fair or reasonable service.
We’re big believers in serving with excellence, and we know every interaction we have in the office can ripple out into how we interact with our customers.
That is why we put an emphasis on Team Building.
