Viewing glasses are selling out across the US, as the August 21st eclipse approaches.
REI, Walmart, and Best Buy have sold of their eclipse glasses online. Amazon still has glasses available through third-party retailers, but just issued a recall on certain pairs.
NASA has deemed only certified ISO 12312-2 glasses safe for viewing directly at eclipse. These lenses are designed to block the harmful infrared and ultraviolet light from the Sun. Without them, looking directly at the sun during the eclipse can be extremely dangerous.

Most of the country will see a partial eclipse, while a narrow zone of stretching from Oregon to South Carolina will see a full eclipse. Our headquarters here in Nashville, TN is in that zone. For this eclipse, the longest period when the moon completely blocks the sun from any given location along the path will be about two minutes and 40 seconds.
